Wednesday, September 14, 2016 - Cubs vs Cardinals Day at Washington School
Congratulations to Ms. Mabbs and the following students for winning blue ribbons at the Gallery 510 Young Artists Showcase.
The Young Artists Showcase is an exhibit and competition for students in Grades 5-8, from schools in the area. Judges looked for technical competence and craftsmanship in the medium chosen, while looking for personal style and expression of ideas, thoughts, or concepts.
Approximately 100 pieces of artwork were chosen out of 400 pieces to be exhibited. Washington School was the only school that earned all blue ribbons!
Congratulations to Rachel Koon, Lana Derossett, Will Soice, Isaiah Norfleet, Alissa Stranberg, Hailey Moore, Evan Bridges, and Payton Perry! We are so proud of you!
Students play on the playground until the bell rings at 8:10. Students line up with their homerooms, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and have a moment of silence before proceeding to their classrooms. Our day officially begins at 8:15. Students are tardy if they arrive after 8:20.
Our lunch hour is 11:30-12:15. Fifth graders eat lunch first then go outside for recess, and fourth graders have recess then come inside for lunch. Our lunch menus are new this year and look delicious! I hope everyone eats school lunch! Students are not allowed to bring fast food and soda to the cafeteria for lunch.
Our school day ends at 3:10.
Thank you to the Monticello Elementary PTO for supporting, Lincoln, White Heath, and Washington Schools. Through Market Day, Sages Strut, and family memberships PTO has provided our students with field trip opportunities, iPads in elementary classrooms, netbooks for 2nd-5th grade students, LCD projectors in Preschool-5th grade classrooms, document cameras in Preschool-5th grade classrooms, and funded assemblies.
